Sugar Pine is Maya & Theo Calder — a husband-and-wife kitchen in Denver, North Carolina, making small-batch decorated cookies for birthdays, weddings, and ordinary good days.

Sugar Pine started in 2022 the way a lot of small things do — Maya brought a tray of decorated cookies to a friend's baby shower, and by the end of the week three guests had asked who made them. Theo, who had been waiting for a reason to leave a job he didn't love, built the website that weekend. The first month they sold eleven dozen.
Today the operation is still exactly two people and one oven. Maya designs and ices; Theo bakes, packs, runs the pickups, and answers every email you send. We bake out of our home kitchen under North Carolina's home-processor rules — which means everything is made fresh, in small batches, by the people whose name is on the box.
We make one thing and try to make it well: a soft vanilla-almond sugar cookie with a clean royal-icing finish. No fondant, no printed images, no shortcuts that make a cookie look better than it tastes.
Most orders are custom — a color palette, a theme, a date. Tell us what the party is for and we'll send back a sketch before we ice a single cookie. We take a limited number of orders each week so nothing leaves the kitchen rushed.
